Surely a place worth stopping by, the food is excellent and fresh, the cost is affordable and it is consistently neat in here. Fantastic work.
Great sushi, great atmosphere, great people!
I tried this place once with my friend and I am addicted ever since. I enjoy the good ambience and yummy food and drinks. They never disappoint.
Best sushi place in town small family-owned business love this place
18.9 gratuity just for to go food!
The sushi is alright, nothing spectacular. The price is outrageously expensive, however. Not worth the cost. Used to be decently priced, but constantly rising prices make it a no-go for me. Go to Uncommon Kitchen in New Moon instead.
Fantastic sushi! Fish was fresh and rolls were creative. Service was kinda slow but the food made up for it.
Excellent service, extremely accommodating to dietary needs and requests, delicious, and fun environment. We'll definitely be back!
Great sushi! I don’t know how come this place is rated below 4 stars. Rolls had lots of fish and didn’t have too much rice. Place is casual and most important thing is you get a good sushi!
Bad food bad service over priced. Took forever to get our rolls nothing came out together. Slow service never going back. Lost a local customer.
One person at our table got his food 30 minutes late. The wait staff said they were unable to offer us any comps or discounts, couldn't refer a manager to us etc, made no effort to fix the situation. Food was amazing but it was a bummer the customer service sucked.
They took forever , barely no fish in the rolls too expensive. If you like have a bad time and leave hungry this is the place , They forgot one my orders
First thought...Waaaaasaaabiiii!!!! Omglicious!!! Second...quite tasty tunaaaah!! Nom nom nom!!
My family and I were in Tahoe City this weekend and tried out Tahoe City Sushi with great delight! First, everyone was genuinely nice and made us feel like we were regular customers! They were very accommodating for us even with our 3 year old and 7 month old baby.Second, the place was CLEAN, and I took my 3 year to the restroom to find it just as clean and presentable. (not typical of a touristy restaurant) which shows effort and pride on the owners part.Third, the food was unreal! Generous portions of fish! Some of, if not the freshest fish I've ever had. The chef suggested a couple of rolls that were amazing and we reordered another round. One thing I really appreciated is that they didn't cheap out on the fish and then hide the fact by drowning the roll with odd sauces like other places tend to do.If you are looking for the best sushi in town with out a chance with very reasonable prices, go to this place. We will certainly be back soon!
Very creative menu and consistency friendly service. Go with the Katastrophe and Placer Gold rolls.
Amazing vegetables roll menu!
Didn't eat, just walked in, heard ppl complaining no service wheres the server.. saw the food ppl were eating looked like sushi from hometown buffet. Did not look good and way overpriced
Excellent service and incredibly fresh, tasty food! We walked in for some take out and sat at the bar for a snack while we waited for our food to be put together. After some great conversation we found out the head sushi chef is actually the owner. He's so personable and incredibly friendly. The Placer Roll we shared there is one of my favorite rolls I've ever had, and I'm a huge sushi lover. Thank you Rich for your top notch hospitality and fantastic food. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Sushi is good and fresh, with lots of choices. Friendly service. Great location in downtown Tahoe City.
Service is great. Sushi is decent. Buy no hot dishes besides soup.
Too bad there isn't another sushi place in Tahoe city. Bit pricey and fish is ok. I guess they get away with it since they have monopoly on sushi. Only recommended if you crave sushi. Water tasted bad.
Awesome sushi rolls and great saké!
So the sushi was pretty poor on it's own. Rice lacked flavor and was wet or damp, overall lacked flavor. Would have rated 3 stars if not for the sub par service. Confused order, dishes and chopsticks were soaking wet with what I hope was water, drinks not refilled and the order took forever to come. Didn't even get a pen to sign the receipt. Highly disappointed as I had been to this place a few years ago and thought it was ok. Will not be going again.
Awesomeness. Not many sushi bars in the Tahoe area though this one is great. For those who want something different, there are plenty of other options next door without driving further.
Nice outdoor seating. View of the lake. Simple, delicious. Nice staff.
The food is regularly fresh and yummy, staff members hands out good service. I loved how neat it is and vibes. Highly recommended.
Popped in here on a whim with my kid. Loved the food - very creative. And loved chatting with the boss while we ate. Great vegetarian/vegan range also.
In a word: Strange. Unusual layout; not cozy. Odd music playing in the background. The chefs carry on loud and unusual conversations and have no problem using profanity in a “family” restaurant. Their rolls are okay, but definitely not worth their prices!
The food was presented beautifully, the fish fresh, the serving size was incredible, quite fair for the price. The woman who took care of us was friendly, offered suggestions, didn't rush us. It was simply a great meal. Ih and the views of Lake Tahoe, welk hard to beat.
Great vegetarian options! Friendly service. Will go again.
Amazing fish and great knife skills
This is my first time leaving a review, do I really need to give them a star!?! The service was TERRIBLE and the fish was AWFUL!!! I would recommend you find a different sushi place if you're in Tahoe.
Very good sushi in Tahoe City. Chefs are great, waitress service a bit slow
I just recently went here a couple days ago, It was the only place in Tahoe to get sushi. Ordered a Couple rolls, the crab is fake and the rice tasted bland and overcooked, would 10/10 Not recommend.
Service was slow. Took too long to get our food. Also the sushi was mediocre at best and was poorly rolled. Significantly overpriced for the quality.
Awful service, I asked for a certain cut of fish and heard the server talking to the chief. He said "they wont know the difference, I'll just give them a more fatty piece." The fish itself was mediocre at best.
Waited a total of 56 minutes for 2 california rolls.. I was the only person in line for to-go when I ordered, and they were only serving 2 tables at a time due to covid, so it didn't appear to be anywhere close to busy... they also told me it would be about 20-30min when I ordered, so why did I have to stand there and wait for an entire hour??:( The food itself was good, but not worth standing outside in 90 degree weather for an hour
I go to this lovely place quite a bit! This is the best place to have a bite. I visit this spot at least once a month. The meals are great, the staff members are helpful and the cost is reasonable. I like eating in this spot to have a tasty lunch.
No ayce and a bit pricey but still really good
The service was impeccable and the sushi actually made me feel a bit racist for thinkin the white girl making it wouldn't hold up the par for the Japanese chef's I've had the privilege of experiencing. Kudos to you all kidos. Chef square will be back asap.
Best sushi from LA to Tahoe.
It was ok. The sushi rice was not sticky enough and my rolls were falling apart. I have had much better sushi. It was extremely hot inside and only 1 waitress for the whole place. She was working extremely hard. Not my first choice next time
Came in rushed from holiday madness, was so happy to be greeted as soon as I walked in. Food was great for the price, I dont generally eat sushi but enjoyed it. The staff and service made it exceptional, especially my server Alison.
Super delicious
The best rolls, ever! Love this place
Good PlaceGood FoodGood TeaGood SushiGood Price
My wife and I ate here over the summer and the fish quality was bad, We ordered some nigiri to test the waters and ended up leaving after we didn’t finish the hamachi or maguro. I guess it’s more of a roll only place. The service was great, but as someone that eats sushi every week, I would not recommend this place to someone.
We waited about 15 minutes to be served or acknowledged but we understood because it was New Years Day and super busy. The sunrise roll and miso soup were yummy.
Great place with very tasty rolls with Japanese mustard.
So you’re 200 miles from the nearest ocean and you want sushi. And you’re in Tahoe City which, let’s be honest, isn’t fancy. So you get what you’d expect. It’s fine. Service was good and quick. Selection was good. You probably won’t get food poisoning. The proprietor is a loud talker but you won’t be lingering long enough to get annoyed anyway.
